I can't comment on air freight but from experience of shipping karts in boxes all I can say is make sure you use as much bubble wrap as you can fit in the box and make a big effort to cushion the axle and stub axles, back and front of the chassis and the steering column support from heavy impacts.

I have used packing straps to tie the box to a pallet in the hope that it will be kept flat and right way up but have found that as soon as the box leaves your sight the pallet straps will be cut off and the box will likely be all but thrown through the system. Avoid TNT.
