And your point is? These days, the difference between the best drivers could be measured in hundredths of a second.......far less than the time to be gained from an optimum set-up, or the best car/engine! The Williams philosophy now holds sway.....drivers are a consumable and easily replaceable component.
It's an inevitable consequence of the safety levels, and cars that drive themselves. Far better to employ a driver who can pay a few million towards the developement of a car a second a lap faster than to employ a driver half a second quicker!
