My concern aboiut 'corner weights' is twofold:-

1) Sit the lad on the kart, on the scales, fully kitted and then get him to simply move his head fully left and then fully right and watch the changes...... you'll be surprised! Then watch how much he moves in his seat when racing. I would argue that you don't need to set something accurately when you can hardly have ANY idea what is happening to the weight distribution (left/right) during the race.

2) Corner weighting implies that the weight should be 'even' across the kart. However, unless the track you are racing is in the shape of a figure or 8, then there will ALWAYS be 360 more corners to the right thyan left (or vice versa).

In my youth, Kimbolton only had ONE left corner and it would have been a JOKE to set the chassis up, evenly, for THAT traack. In the winter, you almost had to break the ice off the front right tyre after a race as it NEVER got slightly warm!

Kimbolton was extreme but it showed how 'even' settings were not the 'way to go'. If tracks were 'even' then (perhaps) karts should also be 'even'.

You'll also note that your lad has to move his head MUCH further forward or backward to have the same sort of effect as it did, left/right. Thus, front/rear balance IS worth setting but left/right is probably NOT. It'd would be 'good' to set left/right........ but to WHAT do you set it......? That's like being able to set your toe-in but having NO IDEA where to set it!

I don't think corner weights are the way to check chassis straightness unless you have a PERFECTLY matched set of scales and a PERFECTLY flat reference floor.

You can check for straightness many other ways. Remind me of your email and I'll send you a quick description of how to check that I wrote for someone else, ages ago.
