Sorry to dive in when you are waiting for Iain's response,

But

why do you doubt that the chassis is twisted? even if it has never been driven on a circuit, how do you know that the TNT (insert alternative parcel carriers name if appropriate) driver did not let it bounce onto the floor when he was loading / unloading it on / off his truck?

always check everything, you may well be correct about a kingpin, try putting the lasers on the kart, and rotating the kingpin whilst watching the readings. any variation will indicate a bent pin.
