Karting does tend to 'hook' people. If you enjoy it, you may find you're stuck with karting for a LONG while.

Whatever you buy, you will need to be able to sell it again. Buying something that can be raced will help hold it's value. Buying something which for all manner of reasons, may not be legal to race will reduce it's resale value. So long as you BUY it at a price to reflect that, then you won't lose-out. However, if you pay 'top dollar' for something which can't be raced......

Rotax Max's come with a 'book' which needs to be 'stamped' to ensure that it's be rebuilt ONLY by people who are licenced to keep it 'race legal'. Anyone CAN rebuilod the engine BUT.... the value of an engined that has not been correctly 'sealed' is much lower than a legally sealed engine........ in theory.....

If you just want 'fun', then an old 100cc kart will be a better bet. They are FASTER than the Rotax. There are various other 'non-raced' enngines that have eleictric starters as well, such as the Leopard.

The best of ALL motors is the Aixro..... especially if you want to be...... stretched..... in your abilities. It's expensive but MIND BLOWING and makes a Rotax feel like a kid's toy!

Gearbox karts are the most dramatic and good value: don't discount those, either!

It's a complex game, hence my advice to go and SEE before you buy......
