So..... if someone else was running tyre softener or better tyres on a hot day.... you'd NOT complain because they would HAVE to be 'bogging down' more than you?

Pull the other one! You'd be the only one who wouldn't!

If the 'drag' is SO huge on your cadet (with pretty limited grip tyres) what the HELL does it do to a KF1 chassis with SERIOUS tyres? How much grip do THEY have to throw away?

You are misunderstanding how karts actually turn corners. Don't worry, you are NOT alone in this.... a HUGE number of other karters make the same mistake. What you need to think about is what 'reducing the drag' is supposed to do..... What you will have been told is that it'll promote 'release' (tee hee!).... yeah.... you have SO much power that you can make the rear wheels SPIN under power exiting a corner..... not many TKMs have enough power for that so it's pretty damned unlikely that Cadets have enough, isn't it?

The standard description about 'release' and 'drag' MIGHT be accurate..... in a vehicle with a Diff.... karts don't have diffs!

The explanation of this is SO long and boring that I haven't written it out yet. I think I am going to have to do it, though.... but.....

You can work it out for yourself if you think about exactly what the rear tyres are doing in a corner..... it is NOT POSSIBLE for BOTH of them to be in full grip with the track if you are still 'cornering'. Thus, one tyre (at least) is ALREADY 'slipping' (it's the inside one!) regardless of you 'reducing the grip'. In a kart without a diff, if it is cornering AT ALL, at least ONE of the wheels has to be 'moving' at a different speed than the ground over which it is travelling. It is physically impossible for them BOTH to be in 'full grip' and still go round a corner!

Still.... it's your kart and just my opinion.

I'd still advise you to TRADE the grip (rear to front) rather than throw it away..... unless you DO feel that spraying your rear tyres with water would IMPROVE your lap times.....
