The grip is relative. If you had more grip it would slow you down. With 4 strokes the key is smoothness as compared to 2 strokes that you can slide more.

Also at places like Lakeside they run on the hardest tyres possible as they want them to last as long as they can so it works out cheaper for them. They don't care about the lap times that softer tyres could give as you are only racing against similar karts.

So the big question........ How did you get on?
