Data theory is a University course in itself. I can't do justice to it here.

Crudely, just give me ALL the possible reasons why you might choose to analyse a sample of a mass of data rather than ALL the data when you are FULLY aware that CRITICAL (and or contrary) information MIGHT be contained in the data outside your sample set. Do that and we'll discuss this further.

What you'll note is the underlying reasons for taking 'samples' of data is ALWAYS because you have too much of it to be able to process USEFULLY. You go for sample because you HOPE it will be a representative sample..... even when you know it may NOT be! Yes.... you can DREAM that you might analyse it ONE day..... but you know you won't anaylse it ALL..... because you have too much! Placing data into this concept of 'I'll do it later', on it's OWN is enough proof that you have too MUCH data (at this moment) to process at the moment..... and, once again, that contains the concept of 'too much data'.

Finally, we take sample data about the engine's performance by recording the the revs from the ignition pulse when we race so we can process the 'data' about the engine. However, we COULD also process very similar data if we recorded the exhaust note or measured the pulses in the exhaust pipe or fuel pipe or the vibrarions of the reed valve, the pulse pipe, drive sprocket, driven, wheel rotations etc. etc. etc.. There are HUNDREDS of ways of getting the same information. So... why don't we do that? Because that would deliver surplus, repeated data... i.e., becasue we would have too MUCH data.

If you decided to compare the data from the pulse pipe with the data from the ingnition pulse to see what 'information' was contained in that comparison, then it would NOT be too much data but..... you don't.... do you! So..... there is information available that you do NOT choose to collect, even though you KNOW it may contain 'useful' stuff...... becasue it would deliver too MUCH information to be able to process.

That's the point. If you choose NOT to collect avaiable 'data', you are already confirming that it IS possible to have too much data!

All this stuff CAN be called data and I'm sure you don't collect it ALL.

Just 'post' the reason/s why you don't take the information about the rate the angle between the reed block and the reed changes..... and you'll have made this point for yourself.
