I don't know the legality but I'd be hesitant to add one more item that:-

*) adds at least two more fuel-line junctions (that may leak air)
*) gives one more component that could 'break'
*) is another place to trap bubbles
*) Increases the volume in the fuel line and thus increases the 'inertial load' on the pump.

I thought about it for quick engine changes for Endurance ProKarts but rejected it for the above reasons.
