The correct word IS 'Caster': 'Castor' is a type of oil.
However, there does seem to be a 'bug' with the search tool. I tried many words and it worked fine, however, including thw word 'caster' crashes my copy straight out to the 'forum list'. I've emailed Dick and Martin for them to have a look.
On the subject of 'Caster Angle':
It does have many effects when you change it but the most5 noticeable one is that, as you INCREASE the angle, then you REDUCE 'turn-in-understeer'.
The reason for this is not simple to explain but a rough guide is that, the greatet the casetr angle, the higher the OUTSIDE fronmt wheel gets 'lifted' when you take a corner. Becasue you kart is entering a corner, the front wheel doesn't ACTUALLY lift, what happens is that the kart 'pivots' over the front-inner and rear outer which DOES lift (or lightens the weight) on eht rear INNER! Effectively, you remove the 'rear inner' from doing any work and THAT allows the kart to 'turn in' to the corner better.
It's very noticable in the wet. Increasing caster reduces unsderster on turn-in.
Not that I am referring to INITIAL turn-in and NOT 'through the corner'. You really DOI neded to think this through:-
We turn the wheel to START the corner and, almopst as soon as we are turning and the rear' has started to slide, we bring the steering back to 'straight' and 'hold it' on the trhottle. Therefore, the effect of 'caster' has DISAPPERAED once you are properly INTO the corner: you have no 'lock on' and thus the caster DOES NOT affect6 the handling.
This assumes that you already understand that you are trying to take all corners in broadly the same 'manner':-
1) brake 2) (Brake and ) turn in 3) let the raer of the kart 'slip' until the kart is a 'tangent' to the corner. 4) Bring the steering back to 'dead ahead' 5) Apply power at '4)' or apply NOW 6) Give VERY minor steering adjustment to cancel the 'tail-out' as youy leave the corner.
Obviously, those are the IDEALS and only the BEST manage that at EVERY corner. But..... do your best......!
