I think there may be a presumption here that anyone who competes a Super 1 within a team must have mega bucks available - speaking from personal experience I can assure you that is not the case.
We are not loaded by any means and have to think very carefully about our whole household budget. We both have professional jobs which are relatively well paid but we make loads of personal/ family spending scarifices to allow both our boys to race including one a Super 1 this year - the other is happy with clubbies + TKM festival . Up until relatively recently #
( last 18 months ) we have always run out of our own awning with our lads doing their own mechanics and decisions on set up etc and we have been happy with what they have achieved over the years even when up against people with extensive budgets and vastly more experience
