Some of us didn't answer you because you are not being all that sensible.......
If you fit your drill to the end of the engine via a socket and your engines starts..... but has the thottle open further than you expect..... what do you think will happen to the wrist of the hand holding the drill? Holding-back anything up to 16bhp is not easy!
The reason why we use starters rather than drills is they are fitted with, effectively, a clutch, which lets the 'socket' 'run free' if it is being 'driven' by the engine. That means it leaves you (the starter) safely in place and with both wrists still attched to your arms if something goes wrong. With your 'drill' idea, the best you can hope for is that it doesn't hurl the drill TOO far into scenery if it all goes wrong.
Obviously 999 times out of a 1000, the drill will work just FINE. However, we all wear helmets when we also know that 999 out of a 1000 times on the track, we won't NEED a helmet. We have safety systems for that 1 time in a 1000 when all hell breaks loose.
Just buy a second hand starter and be SAFE! That's what the rest of us did.
....yeah..... I know I am going to get abuse about this answer when all I am trying to do is to keep YOU, your friends and others in the pits ... safe!
