It all depends where you race and what srut rou get as Chris says. We ran nosecones at Hooton that failed at Whilton for a single 2 inch tear on the underside. The scrutes need to use a bit of common sense. I also think that the nosecone manufactureres could put a sacroficial edge on the front underside to make them last a bit longer however that would be bad for business. It makes an already expensive sport more expensive and could make the difference between being able to afford to race and not.
