John, fair enough, obviously didnt read through properly, but yes it would be nice if our engines lasted longer, would save me a fortune. Saying that, I think that having a gearbox does put more stress on engine components such as piston and bearings as when we change gears it can be quite savage, especially when you are fighting someone for position at the end of a straight etc.
But then I quite enjoy the maintenance side of things and trying to figure out whats gone wrong when it inevitably does lol
