A friday night charge of an old style transponder should give you 6 flashes if the battery is new and will gradually diminish over the years to one then refuse to charge. these have a 3.6volt cell.

The new type seem to give three days and have a 1.2 volt cell, so if yours is a new style, put it on charge Friday morning and when you leave Saturday, it will last the weekend.
