While shoddy welding might be an issue you would have thought the same problem effects the intrepid range but it doesnt.

More likely it is the steel used in the frames. Top grade steel is around the Ł15 - Ł20 mark PER METER. However dirt cheap gas pipe can be less than Ł2 a meter. The difference being proper steel will flex and soft, cheap rubbish will be brittle and crack.

Biz corporate karts suffer exactly the same problem due partly to crap steel amoungst other things.
