What I find worrying about your list is that you complain at one point about 'nannying' but your suggestions are all about 'bullying'

Bear in mind that the original Green Paper underlines one major problem, that although the number of people who kart has increased enormously, the number of people who have signed up for the MSA package shows a steady decline.

Your answer seems to me to be all about telling people who have expressed a preference over the years that they can no longer express a preference but have to do it 'your way' or not at all. Except, of course, you cannot enforce 'not at all' and there is a thriving market that is non-MSA.

I also don't understand some of your complaints. What does 'too time-consuming' mean? Do you mean that on raceday it takes about an hour for your grid to come round again because there are nine classes and you would prefer it to only take 30 minutes? Does it also mean that you would like to start at 10:00 but be over by 14:00 or does it mean that you want to start and finish at the same time but you want more laps, longer races.

From there, one has to wonder whether your desire for less classes is really objective, or is it driven by the desire for you personally to get more laps and the only way that can happen is to cut out other classes?

Too many rules? Again I am not sure what this means. I regard the handbook as containing rules, regulations and specifications.

The rules tell one how to conduct the day and driving and there really aren't that many. There is difficulty sometimes with the rules because people interpret them differently. The whole issue of kerb-riding is a case in point.

Regulations tell you what the organisation should be doing during the day, such as how disputes should be handled.

And finally specifications detail 'local' issues. So the specification of the Clerk of the Course details his job, the specification of a track relates to track issues and the spec for a kart relates to kart issues.

Now from personal experience, I can tell you that it is almost impossible to write a satisfactory rule book without going into detail. Even the simple rule "drive on the track" provokes long arguments on this forum.

But I have found that one can ignore most of the book until you need it, in which case it is better that teh information is there and one knows how to correlate one bit with another. Trying to read teh whole lot at once is, I agree, too much for one sitting.

I also disagree with you entirely over the idea of removing 'body work' by which I take it you mean crash protection. I've been in at least three incidents where the absence of crash protection would possibly have meant the death or serious injury of one or both drivers. The big factor in each case was the speed at which those accidents occurred, a speed which would have been unobtainable on equipment available when I drove without nose-cone and with only nerf bars and a minimum bump bar for protection. To make it safe, one would have to step back 20 years though derated engines, which might negate tuning to fiche.
