Explain please. Granted most of my experience is with kids, but surely for most people, amateur karting is about who is fastest on the track, not about who has the best engine. Of course there are going to be classes where this isn't wanted but even in motorcycle racing now the general principle that equal engines improves the racing is accepted, just look at Moto2.
The level of competition in every sport is so high now, that in most cases the difference between winning and coming last can come down to the equipment. Even swimming now, technology produces swim suits that make you faster. Not many people could defend this though and these suits are being banned.
Thus it would be much better if engine designers concentrated on precision and reliability (both of which enhance equality of performance) rather than thoroughbred levels of HP output.
