Maybe my feel was different, but used to soften kart to get "grip", and stiffen to loose it.

Have you tried the other extreme. Seat stays off. Hard axles in. It might go against some people thoughts, but it might suit YOU.

As Ian says, test, test, test and test some more.

Maybe taking off the seat stays will allow the inner rear to lift and therefore, reduce the tyre contact patch, therefore reducing grip.

Just a thought - but would try it
