Are my rotax carbs now scrap??

Went out to the the shed after 3 month break away from the kart, opened my spares box to find my two carbs were completed covered in corosion on the outside and also some on the inside of the float bowl, howdid this happen? they were wrapped in cling film after I cleaned them before I took a break, are they now useless?
