Ah, ok.

On the end of the electric lump is a round cover about 7 inches in diameter, usually held by two Philips screws.

Under that, if you look just behind the centre bearing, you should see a copper commutator with two brushes that sit on it.

I would look for the reset button first though.

Yes, they do just 'go'.
