If you look back ten years ago, most Comer grids in the country had full grids; they all coped then. You didn't have the ARKS test either and most novices really were novices, whereas these days, many novices have had a season or more racing non-MSA and certainly tens of hours practice.

The size of the grid is largely irrelevant. Once you're in a grid more than 3 rows deep you're reliant on all the other drivers behaving themselves to make it round the first corner. The situation we have now is that drivers are actively encouraged to shove people out the way and they're actively encouraged to dive for the inside at the first corner.

Personally, I think it was a well run meeting with pretty good driving standards overall but for the common issue in modern karting of too much first lap contact. I'm sure the organisers would respond positively to any constructive criticism and any such criticism would be more usefully directed at them anyway.
