Do you mean the bendix unit, the clutch backplate or the pinion on the starter motor?

If it's the bendix, they're expensive and you need to be very careful if you buy a secondhand one.

The teeth wear quite badly and your secondhand one could be worse than your original.

Do you think you need one because it make a horrible noise whe you try and turn the engine over?

It may just need a good wash out of the chain lube that acumulates in them.
