To get going, supprisingly little.

As mentioned, a basic toolkit: Metric spanners, (combination ring/open ended are useful) a couple of good screwdrivers (flat and cross blade)and a metric socket set should do for most running maintenance.

An engineers hammer and copper mallet come in handy at times, not forgetting WD 40, chain lube and of course, plastic tie-wraps.
You could say that tie-wraps to Karters are like bailer-twine to Farmers: fix most things!

We were advised that "Time in seat" is the most important tool of all.
