PF is the obvious standard setter for circuits in the UK. In terms of the facilities it has and the impact they have for competitors, I would suggest that any club looking to make improvements should do so in this order:

1) Tarmac the paddock (whilst you're there consider putting power in). This makes such a big difference during the winter months.

2) Good toilet and shower block.

3) Decent cafe serving decent food. See PF, Rye House and Bayford for examples of setups that work, but some proper food wouldn't go amiss and is as cheap and simple as the junk served.

4) Decent viewing facilities for all. Again, PF Rye House and Bayford are good examples of providing good enough viewing facilities shared by spectators and competitors alike.

5) Covered parc ferme and scrutineering bays.

6) Get rid of the cars from the paddock and, if possible, allocate fixed paddock space per competitor. Space is at a premium; it's incredible to see competitors setup outside the paddock whilst cars are parked inside.

7) Well maintained circuit surroundings (fencing, banners, kerbs etc).

That lot should be enough to bring the circuit up to a very good standard. Of course, as can be seen with Rye House, commercial pressures mean the facilities used by the corporate and arrive & drive crowd will be upgraded before those used by us MSA karters but we can live with that.
