I'm now very pleased my Lad's engine stopped in the TKM final at GYG, due to the plug cap coming off.
I believe it possibly may have prevented a serious accident.
Aidan said just a lap before the engine failure, the steering began to feel unsure. This proved to be caused by the snapping of the steering boss pinch bolt.
The head of the Allen bolt, with what remained of the the shank, was just resting in the counterbore in the boss: another jolt and it may have dropped right out.
So if you haven't changed or checked the condition of this small, yet important component, make it part of your maintenance routine: we will!
Thanks due to Marshalls and Official at GYG "Spoon" for ensuring Aidan's safety after the event.
Dave.
