what really narks me about karting is the perception that you must bump someone to overtake. karting is a small part of my life, i spend most of it on circuits and short ovals where you have grids of upto 30 cars and never have the whole 'binning' syndrome....yes the circuit is wider but so are the cars. i was at oulton recently marshaling the legends cars meeting, 32 identical cars, reverse grids 4 abreast coming into the corners, and the top 20 cars were sepreated by about 4 seconds....how much contact???? NONE! why? because people have a bit of common respect for eachother and realise if they step out of line the msa will punish them!.....the whole mentality of punting someone off needs to come to an end, clerks need an electric cattle prod up thier backsides to wake them up and do something, the cameras need to be used properly, and the rules need to change to give clerks more power to stop repeat offenders and impose heavier penalties. exclude them, give them points on their licence, make them start at the back for the final, or simply send them home....it works in oval racing, why cant it work in karting? i accept there will be a bit of rubbing here and there, as there is in any form of motorsport, but its the downright dirty driving that needs to be gotten rid of, and that will only happen when someone has the balls to do something about it instead of turning a blind eye.
