I'm 33 years young this year and when I started at the tender age of 17 every guy on the grid was 30 plus. That's how it was. I raced against men twice my age sometimes 3 times my age. Now of course there's so few at those ages.
Dan of dadson has done a great job keeping the older guys invloved and Formula Blue obviously does a good job too but the sport is aimed at the kids now, which is fine; but is it really....?
Every class is aimed at the kids, every initiative is aimed at the the kids, every competition is for the kids and any new event is always for the kids. Win a series and if your between 8 - 18 you'll win a drive in this and win a go in that.
Not really supporting the people who held built the sport is it??? Just the lads who are using the sport to create a motor racing career for themselves. Many will say it's just sour grapes but you know what I have no problem admitting jealousy. But maybe someone should support the older guys for a change. I'll race until I can no longer hold the wheel, provided the arthritis doesn't set in too early.
Monday morning moan over with!
