Having straightened and skimmed quite a few carriers, I can tell you that they are indeed, weak!

They also crack where the Allen bolt locates.

Because of the axle diameter, i think any design will suffer from bending but a fully supporting carrier would be better.

Due to the size and power of the engine, a Cadet need to have every bit of uneccessary rolling friction removed.

That obviously includes wheel bearings and axle bearings.

Cadets often have the dust coves removed from the bearings and the greased washed out and replaed with a ptfe lubricant to reduce friction.

They may have found that using only two bolts on the engine side helps to free up the chassis in corners due to the engine weight.

I don't do Cadets by the way :)
