didnt want to highjack the thread so here you go
started saturday over 2 seconds a lap off the pace and actually slower than my fastest laps round there on the old style tyres
i was rusty, the tyres were new and there was a big weld in my chassis not to mention half the grid being super 1 competitors.we made loads of changes and i slowly got used to the new tyres and the new lines i had to take.tkm now feels like a completely different class and the extra grip on offer encourages people to make lunges rather than clean moves because they can get away with it,sounds like another class i can think of!
anyway by the end of the last session i did a one off 48.7.the quick lads were doing 47.6 so i was looking at actually being in the bottom 5 on that pace.the chassis wasnt reacting right, snatchy under breaking, the back washing out mid corner and fairly unresponsive to setup changes, none of those were a feature of the chassis before the snap.there was nothing we could do though but ignore it and use sunday as another test day so i can alter my driving style/lines and hopefully work my way up to speed
we made loads of changes on sunday and gradually i got my times lower with a consistent 48.1 in the final which was half a second off the quicker people.one or two went quicker but im not worried about that
could really do with getting in the 47's
in the end im fairly ok with that time considering the base i started at and another race meeting to get used to the tyres will help me catch up a bit. the quality of the grid was very high so 14th out of 32 wasnt too bad. :)
