Never drained the fuel from my kart - EVER!
No need to do it, unless you are carrying it upright.

Never used Tesco fuel, always use BP super unleaded. Sounds more like its the wrong type of pipe as I've only ever changed the pipe when I get a cut in it at the carb/fuel pump end. (Probably used the same pipe for 2 years)
