Thanks for the advice - I'll leave the led until I've checked it out on the circuit.

When you say let it discharge do you mean for another few/several days ?

It's not flahed red for the last two days and it's still at 3.6v - does it continue to discharge over time or should it sit at this voltage for a long time?
