Thanks for the replies guys. I have about 3 cms space to fill up. I think i'll probably use spacers as i'm not at all experienced at working with metal. Total weight in the seat will be 80kg (me and 10 kilos of lead.

Cheers for the seat padding tip Ian. My new seat feels quite comfy at the mo but i may well pad it after testing for the first time!
