The caustic soda method is not that nice.

If you remove the end cans and have a look up the exhaust with a powerfull torch, it has to be a good torch because it's very black in there, you will see a perforated cone.

If you set the thing up in the garden with a blowlamp/torch up it's orifice and get the carbon hot, it will glow, then it becomes soft enough to scrape off.

Do remember that this thing is going to be extremely hot so wear some appropriate gloves and don't sue me if you burn yourself, as I have warned you.

Check that the cone hasn't become detached from where it is welded to the body.
