1: The TKM and Rotax clutches work by 'centrifugal' force In the TKM, the cluch had bob weights that force the plates into engagement.

The Rotax has shoes that are retained by springs and fly out as the speed increases or the shoe unit is a unit that is sprung with it's own material governed by the pattern of the cuts in the plate.

2: Clutch slip is when he front sprocket is moving at a slower speed than the engine. It can be beneficial to keep the engine in its power band, or it can be detrimental and cause the engine to lose drive.

3: Cadet engines are low powered so it is vital to get the most you can out of the engine. By specially selecting parts to build an engine, you can gain more power without machining and tuning outside the regulations. You can do it with a TKM, let ME assure you, not Tak-ko.

4a: Saturday practice is done in classes and tracks usually try and make it even and fair for everyone. Time varies according to how many classes so you will get less time if there are a lot of different classes running. practice time may vary from 10 mins to 5 mins.

4b: Heat positions are worked out by computer and you will get a front, middle and back position. It may look unfair but you do get three fair positions.

If there are more drivers than the grid allows then they will run maybe four heats and an A and B final and you will have to finish well in the B final to make the A final. You'll only get knocked out of the B final and not progress to the a final if you finish too low down the order.

Practice time can be as low as 35 mins for the day or over an hour, it depends on the classes, delays and actuall total run time overall.

Sunday will vary again depending on the number of classes and if the track can run under flood lights. Some tracks only manage two heats and a final in winter which makes it difficult to correct a naff heat finish and I think it cheats the competitors. Just start earlier!

5: Weekday testing can be all day if you are the only class practicing but lots of time doesn't equate to good quality practice. Practice is just that, it's NOT racing and do not treat it as such because other drivers will not be expecting it and it is dangerous. Drivers are running engines in and trying different setups and will be doing vastly different speeds sometimes.
You should use it to try things out and document them so that you have a future reference for those conditions. A dry cold practice day ahs different setup to a hot dry practice day.
