its a very neat weld (mig) running about 6 inches in length where your chassis gets flattened by the kerbs, its perfectly legal. mine passes every time. After all, there's nothing stopping you getting cracks welded, and NO it doesn't effect the flexibility of the chassis. Dont try it if your not a competent welder, get somebody to do it for you. The weld is a much harder metal than the chassis and so will take forever to wear through to your chasssis. I know loads of people who have done it since they looked at mine.
