Go any any camping shop and look at the foam bed-rolls you can buy. They are in many colours and are VERY 'dense'. They make the pertfect padding and can even be built up in layers to 'tailor make' the seat linings. Bloody brilliant stuff and pretty cheap (Ł8 to Ł20) for a 6ft by 2ft piece. You can do a LOT of padding with that.

The remainder makes a great knee pad when you have to work on something on the ground in a hurry. It also insulates your knees/bum from the cold pits/paddock surface in the winter while working on the ground.
