Pete I've broken my ribs twice in the last year and a bit. I now wear the OMP rib protector but I've also fitted a Tillet Rib Cage to my seat. This is actually more effective than the OMP device as it restrains me tightly in the seat. My rib injuries occured when I was thrown out of the seat so to speak and my ribs caught the seat edge on the way back as I was moving independently of the kart. The rib cage is absolutely fantastic and I can't recommend it enough.
