Graham - sorry but hit the enter key realising I could have said that a bit more clearly.
Not knowing the full facts can make me look stupid on this but in general, if someone gets excluded from a specific heat for driving standards in that one race whereas they've completed all previous heats etc without blemish - then to lose all points for that meeting would seem harsh to me!
Larkhall 2007 Junior Max final and my son goes for a move resulting in him and one other driver coming off, losing 3 or 4 places and rejoining the race. 2 laps later my lad gets black flagged. We hang around afterwards to be called in - thinking black flag = end of race = in trouble but nothing. After the weekend I ask about procedures and get told 'forget it' we don't keep a log of all black flags (why not?!) so the move was bad enough to end my son's race but not bad enough to give him points or speak to him! That's a fine line if ever there was one!
Anyhow - we get to keep all our points from the heats AND the final - the one he got black flagged from!
Ok - maybe 2 years on the regs/rules are different but the principle is the same.
I realise it's different for a technical infringement or is it? 2006 final at Buckmore, driver finishes ahead of us only to realise he didn't fill out his card correctly. Penalty - excluded from final with points just for that race docked and to be honest the right result even if a total exclusion would have moved my son from 5th to 4th in the final table.
But as I said, maybe there's more to this one than meets the eye on which note I'll leave it there.
Thanks again.
