Hi all,
I bought my first karting boots, Sparco K Mid, from kartingdirect.co.uk a few months ago. I've worn them for about 4 practice days and one race weekend. Last time I used them I noticed that the soft grey material on the side has ripped all the way along the join with the suede material.
I contacted karting direct who said that I need to send them back to Demon Tweeks (who supplied them) for assessment. Demon Tweeks have sent photos to Sparco who say that they dont accept that I have only worn them 5 times because the sole of the boot is well worn and are suggesting that I have been wearing them for general use and it is due to this excessive wear that the boots have failed. So basically karting direct, demon tweeks and sparco wont do anything about it.
Now when racing/practising I do put my boots on for the first session and then wear them in the pits until the end of the racing and that does also involve push starting my TKM, but thats it. I dont think this is excessive and I havent worn them for general use, but obviously its just my word against theirs.
So, does everyone else wear their boots all day in the pits or should i be taking them off straight away after being out on the track?
Has anyone else had a similar problem with Sparco boots ripping? Or have the soles been wearing excessively? Even if you havent at least this has given me the chance to vent my frustration as there doesnt seem to be much more I can do - other than get my needle and thread out! ;-)
Cheers, Mike
