Yes you can. I've used a rubber mallet and a vice. Find where the carrier is bent with a flat surface and/or straight edge, then put in vice on opposing side to where it is bent and whack it. Keep checking with flat surface/straight edge everytime you whack it.

I've only done this once as I couldn't get a replacement, but it was good enough for the rest of the day.
