I run both my lads in JTKM and Cadet. We now run a Honda after quite a few years in Comer (S60 and W60).

The Honda is by far the most reliable and more importantly does not need "adjusting " as the weather changes - as most 2/'s do.

The Honda will be almost as quick as the other Cadet classes (and at some tracks is quicker) so as your lad improves he can be competitive with the rest of the grid.
