I am surprised that you say you could not get the EVX to work, it should show an improvement over the EVS although slight as it is fundamentally the same chassis with some updates to stub axles, brakes and caster camber kits.
There were, however a number of rouge EVX chassis around that had been poorly jigged at the factory so you may have been unfortunate and have tried one of those.
If you are unable to as you say 'Get the chassis to work' there is another problem somewhere as there are hundreds out there that work very well indeed!
