Gordon,

At present there is a proposal out for consultation to mandate upon the new youth helmet standard from 1.1.2011 for all drivers under the age of 15, and for this to be recommended in next year's Blue Book. There is a chance that when passed the regulation will mandate the new standard only for Cadets to begin with from 1.1.2011, again recommended for next year.

The Snell SA2005 standard will remain acceptable in the Cadet class for the duration of 2010, but almost certainly not in 2011. However it may be permitted in junior classes in 2011, we need to see what the final ratified regulation will stipulate for this.
