Hello!

I am Alex, one of the guys behind the Diamond Kart lift. First I would like to thank Hootsmon for directing you to our site! Secondly I would like to clear up some of the things mentioned on this thread.

We designed the Diamond Kart Lift having observed people struggling with trolleys and even the driv-up. The thing with the driv-up is that it is fine, as long as you are a strong individual and as long as the gas struts stay strong. Otherwise it has a tendency to dump the kart heavily. We have done extensive testing before coming up with the final product, and one of our earliest lift designs involved picking up the front of the kart in a similar way to the karts for U design. The problems we encountered were a) fuel flooding the carbs due to picking up the front vertically b) damage to the exhaust and rear number plate when in this position. Added to this, the K4U design still involves lifting the kart and holding it there whilst you attach it to the trolley. (which incidentally is in effect a simple three wheeled trolley with a tiltable bed on it). I am certain that the diamond kart lift is much more stable. Indeed unlike both the driv-up and the K4U design ours requires no input from the user other than wheeling the lift to the kart and pressing the button. It really is that simple!

Another thing mentioned were the wheels on the K4U type. Pneumatics are good, but you can get punctures! This is why we use heavy duty semi pneumatic wheels for the front, and heavy duty castor type wheels with rubber tyres for the rear. the rears swivel, unlike the driv-up which can be hard to steer and ours are even braked, this making working on the kart easier!

The Diamond kart lift picks up the rear, and pulls itself under the kart. This does not damage or stress the nose in any way. In fact we deliberately designed the lift to carefully pick up the Kart and carefully set it down. It does not stress the chassis at all! When loaded the kart is very securely and automatically clamped to the lift. It is very, very stable. The locking is indeed via the lifting cable, which is designed to pull range rovers out of ditches. It is not going to break under the weight of a kart!

Basically I just wanted to put the record straight. I am not running down the driv-up or the K4U, but we designed the Diamond Lift to be better than both, and are extremely proud of the product. If you would like to come and test a lift, please give me a call (07985) 152462. You are quite welcome any time. We are not a multi-national company, we are a pair of guys who have solved a long standing problem that was bugging us!

lastly, thanks for bringing the subject up on the forum!
