At Rye this weekend someone was selling a nearly new KC-3 that their boy didn't get on with. My boy borrowed it for Saturday practice and loved it. It was considerably lighter than his previous lid, gave him more head movement due to the sides being cut away slightly and not rubbing on his neck collar and he said it gave him better peripheral vision. Ended up buying it. He hasn't taken it off since. One of the scrutineers, who had been involved on the design board for the new CMR standard, confirmed it would be compulsory within the next few years and that the linings could be replaced and the child's head grew.
