There's a couple of things to check.
First is to check which system yo are using. Some Mychrons ask for the number of bands and some ask for the number of splits.
If there are three magnet lines in the track then a system asking for Bands sets 3 and a system asking for splits sets 2.
Reason> Assume the track is laid out with Band 1 then 10 second split to Band2 then 11 second split to Band 3 (then 15 seconds 'lapcount' back to Band 1.) Now you have three bands or 2 'extra splits' on the lap.
Then check the obscuring time. The obscuring time stops the system reading another band until the obscuring time is over.
So if you have set 2 splits on our track above and an obscuring time of 24 second teh system will pick up band1 then miss band 2(10 secs is within 24 seconds, then miss band 2 (10 secs +11 secs still less than 24 secs) and switch on to record a first split of band 1 to band 1 of 35 secs.
It will then do that for the second split and the lapcount split, giving you a lap of 3 *35 secs 1 :45.00. This might look like a lap time of 45 secs.
It's useful, because if you know you are doing 35 second laps you can set splits as 0 and obscuring time as 24 and get a simple lap time for each lap.
Theres a minimum obscuring time, because it is possible for the system to sense the band coming and teh band going on an obscuring time of 0 and count that as a split, while if you are airborne teh system misses the band, or if you take a kerb at the band, you can actually be off the band!
