You are right Ian, Mg alloys are generally more brittle than Al alloys, however be careful with wording.
They are 50% as 'tough' as Al alloys, but not 50% as strong. Tensile strength is often very similar for both but the fracture toughness is hugely different, hence the brittleness of typically used Mg alloys.
By the way, nice to see you still on the forum as bold as ever. I've been away for almost 2 years (showing Nik G how to drive a Club 100 BUKC kart in the meantime...!), and I remember always enjoying reading your posts. It's amazing how many people get offended on here just because there really is no other way on this forum to emphasise words without using capitals!
