Mass was one of the reasons given for using Mag components, specifically the lower moment of inertia on rims, carriers and hubs. Its tiny though and because engine mounts, clamps and steering bosses don't rotate through 360 degrees at high speed, the effect's even lower there. Which really means the effect is likely to be placebo and the ultimate reason for using them is fashion !

I've been a victim myself buying all the above on a regular basis in the past. I spend my money on nice sticker jobs these days as its cheaper !
