No.... not if you really CAN identify a improvement in performance in ANY conditions by using them. By all means buy some to see HOW they help youas you can b fairly sure hat they will behae DIFFRENTLY from alloys...... just as a differnt MAKE of alloys will behave differently to your existing ones.
However, the bit that winds me UP is when people state (quite categorically) that Mags lose/hold heat in this/that way.... forgettng that the SCIENTIFIC BASIS is simply NOT THERE!
They may WELL perform differently than 'similar' alloys BUT how much of that 'difference' is becasue they are a different shape (cross section), making them:-
1) Stiffer 2) have more/less cooling surface area 3) 'ring' (wobble after hitting a bump) more or less than alloys 4) etc.
..... has never been TESTED! And yet everyon KEEPS saying: 'it's the heat'!
It's one of the karting 'old wives tales' that mags give 'better' heat dissipation/retention and I do my best to point that out when I can.
So.... use them if they make you GO faster but have a smile when someone tells you: 'it's about heat dissipation'. Ask them HOW they know it's the heat!
